The Fort House – a gem of a house, inside Galle Fort

The Fort House is a stunning property - you enter the house via an impressive hall with dramatic high ceilings. Beautiful arches lead you into an open plan seating and dining area that overlook the courtyard and pool. Bright and fresh, the pristine white floors and walls give the house a cool feel. Gentle, ambient lighting, beautiful furniture, colourful local art and ornaments reflect the traditional craftsmanship and style of Sri Lanka, old and new. There is a beautiful roof terrace with spectacular views over the roof tops of the Fort and out to sea. The roof terrace faces west, so you can enjoy a late afternoon drink as the sun slides into the Indian Ocean. It is also a great spot for some private sunbathing. 

DINING
The locally made teak dining table can seat up to 10 people comfortably and is excellently located by the pool courtyard. Cuisine is to your preference and the in-house cook will be delighted to suggest menus and shop for you or with you in the local markets. It must be said that trying this experience once is recommended!

ROOMS
The house boasts four elegant bedrooms. Three are doubles, one of which overlooks the pool on the ground floor - and one is a twin room. All the rooms have air-con and overhead fans as well as modern bathrooms. The master suite has French windows that open onto a private breakfast terrace. There is a mezzanine floor on one side where you can find the study and TV/DVDs.
