Sanda Kirana – a beautiful beach house in Thalpe

Sanda Kirana is a beautiful four bedroom beach house facing south-west across the Indian Ocean. Designed by a leading Australian architect, the property is accessed through a large garden area via steps leading up to the house. Impressive double doors open to reveal walled gardens and magnificent views of the Indian Ocean. The central feature is a large swimming pool. All the rooms are decorated with colonial furniture in traditional Sri Lankan style and boast high ceilings, white walls and cool tiled floors.  A covered veranda overlooks the garden at the front of the villa, which is dotted with coconut palms and gently slopes down to the beach. If the sea is too rough for swimming, Point de Galle's excellent lagoons and beaches are just three minutes away by tuk-tuk.

ROOMS
There are four bedrooms, three double and one twin and a large cot is available for small children/babies if required. All beds are four-poster with fitted mosquito nets and are cooled by overhead fans. The master bedroom has a small private terrace where the sounds of the surf will help you drift off to sleep. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and bedroom two has an outside shower enclosed in its own garden area. The property also has a small library, CD player and satellite TV.

DINING
A large dining table is located between the swimming pool and water garden. This is the centre for formal meals and at night provides a beautifully lit area facing the beach. The Sanda Kirana Cook, Housekeeper (Assistant Cook), Gardner/Pool Attendant and Night Watcher will take care of your every need. Discuss your meal requirements with the Cook, who will serve you with fabulous curries and excellent western dishes. He will also shop for all your ingredients if you provide him with a float, keeping an account for your perusal. You will find it fun at least once to accompany him and visit the daily fish, fruit and vegetable markets yourself.
